Hon. Mathew Gambo: The Unshaken Colossus, Building a New Lere Local Government

The Executive Chairman of Lere Local Government, Hon. Mathew Gambo Kaku (Sardaunan Kurama) has performed exceptionally in the last one year since he took over as Chairman of the Council. He has continually shown character, competence and capacity in running the affairs of council. His efforts on education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, security and welfare for the people cannot be overstated. Beyond that, his gained experience (politically) has given him the latitude to unite the local government irrespective of religion, ethnic or political affiliation. 

Under his leadership, there has been a significant improvement in the EDUCATION SECTOR. Hon. Mathew Gambo has initiated and implemented various projects that have improved the quality of education in the local government. He has provided and renovated school blocks, and ensured the availability of teaching materials and resources. This has resulted in an increase in enrollment and improved academic performance. 

a. In two batches, there's been a distribution of Instructional Materials which includes writing materials (books), Over 100 white board, 12 Cartoon of White Board marker, 12 Cartoon of HB pencils, School Registers etc amongst others. 

b. The administration's commitment towards promoting education for students in tertiary institutions cannot be overstaged. As such, there's always an interactive session between the chairman and indigenes from Lere LGA on ways to support, particularly the lesser privileged to further enhance their education with tuition fee support amongst others.

In the HEALTHCARE SECTOR, Mr. Gambo has prioritized the well-being of the people. He has provided medical facilities, equipment, and personnel to ensure that quality healthcare services are accessible to all. His efforts have resulted in a reduction in mortality rates and an improvement in the overall health status of the people.

a. The initiation and unveiling of the Garin Kunu Lafiya, an initiative aimed at managing and sustaining the treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) cases in Lere Local Government Area.

b. To boost access to health care, the council also embarked on renovation and equipping of health care centers across the local government. 

INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT has also been a key focus area for Hon. Mathew Gambo Kaku. The Chairman has embarked on road construction and rehabilitation projects, ensuring that the local government is well-connected and accessible. This has not only improved transportation within the local government but has also attracting investments and boosted economic activities.

a. Construction of solar motorised Boreholes each across the 11 wards of Lere Local Government Area.

b. Ongoing construction of road network from kwanan narbi to Juran-kurama and maresu Road. Also links Dan Alhaji ward and Abadawa ward in Lere Local Government. And, installment of streetlights. 

c. In collaboration with other stakeholders, Hon. Mathew Gambo facilitated to reach the end of electricity/power blackout that lasted for years in Lere Local Government. 

d. Projects supervision which includes Boreholes, drainage system, roads repair amongst others across all 11 wards of Lere Local Government Area. 

AGRICULTURE is another sector that has witnessed significant growth under his leadership. He has facilitated and supported farmers with improved seedlings, fertilizers, and irrigation facilities, resulting in increased agricultural productivity. This has not only ensured food security but has also created job opportunities and improved the income of farmers in the local government.

a. In a bid to promote sustainable agricultural practices in the local communities and improve the livelihood of farmers in Lere Local Government,

the Chairman unveiled the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture, that's is the Accelerated Varietal Improvement and Seed Delivery of legumes and cereals in Africa (AVISA). The foundation will provide training, resources, and support to help farmers adopt more sustainable farming techniques and increase their yields. This is a significant step towards ensuring food security and economic development in Lere Local Government Area.

The subject of SECURITY has always been a top priority for Hon. Mathew Gambo. He continues to work closely with security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the people. His proactive measures have led to a reduction in crime rates and the restoration of peace and tranquility in the local government.

a. Despite holding regular security meetings with police commanders in the local government and State level, Hon. Mathew Gambo have established a synagy that connects the police, other non-uniformed security outfits, vigilante, traditional rulers, religious leaders, politicians and all other key stakeholders in the local government towards promoting security for all. Hon. Gambo has charged the police to collaborate with the local authorities and intensify efforts to maintain law and order. 

b. In his continuous efforts to boost security in the area, the administration made donation of a mobility vehicle to  local outfit (Yan Bula) so as to improve on swift movements to tackling security issues in the area.

Furthermore, Hon. Mathew Gambo Kaku has shown a deep commitment to the WELFARE of the people. He has implemented various social intervention programs, such as skills acquisition and empowerment schemes, to alleviate poverty and improve the living conditions of the people. He has also prioritized the needs of vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and persons with disabilities.

In conclusion, Hon. Mathew Gambo Kaku has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Executive Chairman of Lere Local Government.
