Kaduna PDP Crises: Why the Rumored Plan to Suspend Professor Matoh Dogara Must Be Put On Hold -Sani Umar

 By Umar Sani

It is now a cause for concern that the rumoured intended suspension of Prof Mato Dogara from the Peoples Democratic Party Kaduna State chapter is gaining traction and generating palpable tension amidst the many controversies plaguing the PDP in Kaduna State.

At a time the party needs total healing by assuaging the grievances of some critical stakeholders who are aggrieved, the party is set to take a path of self destruct. Amongst the very many litigations in court and the recent tactical breakaway from the single structured state campaign council by a faction loyal to the former Vice President Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo GCON, through a platform called the Mandate, the fractionalization of the campaign structure is imminent. From the lowest to the highest displeased persons, the clouds are gathering and it may soon rain. First it was the party against a loyal adherent Aminu Danzaria, a member of the party’s publicity committee whose intractable problems with the party hierarchy led to his defection to the ruling party, to issues surrounding the choice of the National Youth leader, replacement of the vacant National Ex-Officio position vacated by Ibrahim Bamalli, the controversy surrounding the defeat of Sen Danjuma La’ah and now the tussle for campaign council positions which was manipulated by the party to favor their preferred choices. The last straw that broke the camels back is the party’s partisan position in the botched central senatorial primaries where they pushed for forceful removal of the declared winner of the primaries using the instrumentality of the judiciary. It is not gainsaying the fact that the judge is being investigated by the National Judicial Council on allegations of perceived financial inducements and compromises at the last sitting in the Federal High Court, Kaduna Judicial Division, where he deliberately refused to deliver judgement in a suit filed by Senator Musa Bello challenging the validity of the primaries for fear of a contradictory ruling. He had to assign responsibility to the newly appointed Judge.

The Labour Party in zone three is populated by the party’s aggrieved members from its Gubernatorial Candidate, Hon Jonathan Asake and his Deputy who was the former Majority Leader of the Party Aliyu Bashir Idris, and even to to the Senatorial Candidates of zone one and three Hon Ibrahim Bamalli and Ayuba Michael respectively. Indeed their Candidacy is giving the party some goose pimples as they are playing a spoiler role in a PDP stronghold. The NNPP is equally populated by some aggrieved members of the Party ranging from Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, it’s Gubernatorial Candidate to Shehu Usman ABG and much more.

Faced with this multifaceted and multiplicity of problems one will have expected that the party will have embarked on a voyage of self introspection. Again the silent but noticeable battle of the Titans raging between Sen. Ahmed Makarfi and Arc. Namadi Sambo (former Vice President) is a cog in the wheel of progress in our dear party in Kaduna state. Each of them is laced with his golden gloves ready to deliver the killer punch at the slightest opportunity available. However as things are right now the position of the party in the state is that you are an enemy if you have chosen a candidate different from theirs. I am yet to witness any genuine reconciliatory efforts embarked upon by the party to bring aggrieved members to a round table with a view to resolving the lingering crisis. The founding fathers of our great party will not have wished for the way and manner the party is being administered in Kaduna State. Key positions have allegedly been shared amongst some favorable members of the party and once you are not a beneficiary you are termed a liability

The rumored plan to suspend Prof. Mato Dogara by the State Working Committee from the party for whatever reason must be put on hold. The execution of such an action might lead to a state of chaos and anarchy and place the party in a precarious position. This has the potency to situate the party on a journey to the abyss. A word is enough for the wise.
