An Elder-statesman and Senior Citizen from Kaduna State, North West Nigeria, Mallam Mohammed Rabiu Bako has called on the Security and Defence committee of the National Assembly, as well as the government to be mindful of permitting foreign forces to establish military units along the Nigerian borders.  He made the statement in Kaduna on Saturday as stated; "It is no news that foreign governments are lobbying to establish military bases along the borders of Nigeria. This is indeed a trap that will surely be regretted. The presence of western forces in Nigeria should not be supported by the Nigerian government because despite being present in the Sahel region for many years, they have been ineffective in addressing the security challenges posed by terrorism. Terrorism continues to prevail and even escalate in some areas, indicating their failure to keep the region safe."
